GLOBALISATION AND MALABAR MUSLIMS

The word globalization has a wide range of meanings. The economic meaning of the globalization is the process in which the world becomes a single market. Here the exchange of goods will take place between countries. In this process the exchange of technology as well as many other things will also take place.

A famous professor of university of Honolulu has said that the globalization has certain dimensions. They are social economic political and cultural dimensions. Mainly here the discussion is about the cultural globalization and Malabar Muslims.

Before the independence the leaders like ghandiji and all others was the famous personalities to lead the swadeshi moment against the British people. In this the people did boycotted the products which was made by the british peoples. And they promoted using the khadi like products which was made in india itself. But the post independent period was different from that of the pre independent period. The people started using the world products produced from the different parts of the world. The products reached them according to the reason of this globalization. Especially the changes took place among the Malabar muslims than that of other peoples. This do don’t mean that the changes dint took place among the other peoples. But the drastic change ware seen among the Malabar muslims.

The main reasons which we cans see for this is that the gulf Diaspora from the Malabar region has changed the lifestyle of the peoples who was living in the state of Kerala. Slight traditions and cultures of Arab peoples was slightly copied to the life of Kerala people especially muslims. Later the invention and the influence of television and the internet facilities totally drew another picture in the life of Malabar people. The channels which is available in the television and the facilities which is available in the internet facilities has played a crucial role in changing the style of malabar muslims.

The different product which is available across the international borders has influenced the life of Malabar muslins. The result of globalistion was the numerous products of sam,e kind by variety of qualities and all was extracted. So naturally an intrest of people to catch all these items was growing in a wide manner and thus they were reaching the top most pinnacles to catch up these products. So the over interest to conquer all those products was another reason of the lifestyle change of the malabar muslims.

The recently finished fifa world even though it not something like a product the strong influence of that was see aong the people of kerala especially in Malabar muslim who was the natives of kozhikkode and malapuram. Even though it has felled in the month of ramzan the people of kerala given much more importance to the world cup match than that of the importance given to ramzan. This much influence it has got among the kerala people. If we are travelling through the villages of Kerala we could feel like that we are travelling through some European counties or some other latin American countries. The reason was the whole streets and all was covered with the flex boards and the flags of the teams which were participating in the fifa world cup.

Moreover the films has played a greater role in making the identity of Malabar Muslims in a bad manner. The paradigms of many things which is shown the films have changed the life of kerala peoples. Mainly it changes among the food dress and many other things. The ideas of the old age homes and other homes were a result of such ideas and all. The living standard was increased and thus the people started thinking somewhat modern and the result of such thinking was avoiding those old aged peoples from the home. Actually those are the ones which we must give respect to them but we are not showing them that.

Not only the gulf Diaspora but also the migration to may other countries like US UK and so on resulted in the change in life of malabar muslims. The variety of cultures and traditions was pouring to the kerala. Thus it all was influencing the life of malabar muslims.

The invasion of English medium schools on the timings on madrassa was also another reason of failure of the old traditions and characters. The modern people think that the need for spiritual education was not needed for their children thus the started admitting their children’s to the English medium schools. So the lack of spiritual education in the children or the coming generations or among the growing ones resulted in their bad characters and muddlemets.

The overflow of actors and actress in the televisions and films also scribbled the chastity of malabar muslims. The change in dress food hairstyle and all was finally came from the side of these actors and these actress.

The misunderstandings among the peoples about the olden muslim leaders was also another reason of this failure in the traditions. So political Islamic leaders tried to change those history and they have made clefts among those history and these history was taught among the people who came after that. So the importance of nationality which they showed and the best model of life which they lead among the peoples between many problems was erased in front of the lay eyes.

AFTERMATH

The globalization especially the cultural globalistion was resulted in the failure of kerala muslim characters and traditions which they stood with them earlier. And many other alterative was showed among them of no need. But the kibosh of malabar peoples selected those ones which have no use ad they have find an interest on it and they were travelling with those things I the endless world of joy.

Verily, it’s important to give a burst of spiritual education among the Malabar muslims to recoup their lost traditions and paradigms.
